As insurers move away from their legacy systems and onto more flexible platforms such as Guidewire and Duck Creek, the days appear numbered for portal solutions. Real-time data exchange is now front and center as a priority for the Insurance Broker Association of Canada (IBAC), the national broker association announced Tuesday.

Disrupters are finding new ways to close these gaps and traditional insurance carriers find themselves scrambling to protect their foundations. Traditional insurance carriers are investing and buying into #Insurtech solutions although it often remains to be seen how they will either integrate or leverage the technology into their existing operations.

Nova-Scotia head quartered Archway Insurance, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest insurance brokerages, has announced its latest acquisition – the purchase of firm D.R. Hayman Insurance. The move brings Archway’s total number of locations to 21 across New Brunswick and N.S.

Archway Insurance, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest insurance brokerages, announced on Tuesday that it will purchase Alliance Assurance effective Dec. 31.

Co-operators General Insurance Company announced on Tuesday that its wholly-owned subsidiary has purchased Assurance Aubin Insurance Brokers Ltd. The brokerage’s portfolio includes personal and commercial insurance policies, The Co-operators said in a press release. Assurance Aubin has locations in Hearst, Wawa and Terrace Bay, Ont.
